Selection of the VHF antenna is critical to achieving the optimum receive and transmit range. For situations where only AIS reception and transmission is required, we would recommend choosing an antenna that is tuned to cover the AIS channels at 162MHz. For situations where both AIS and VHF Voice are required (i.e. through a splitter), choose an antenna that is tuned to cover the entire VHF band at 159 MHz
